about me
i do economic and social research. i love road movies, power pop, Slim Aarons, strolling with a camera, telecasters & stratocasters, cycling on TV in the background, lemon trees, Cesar Manrique's designs and parties, 1960s (and Latin) jazz, brutalism, traditional tattoos, Masats, Siquier and Colita, high rise pants, palm trees, maps, the people who smile to dogs and strangers, dolphins and tri-band Penguin Books editions. i do not like Batucadas, naive ideas (driven by unscientific attitudes) and those who mistreat bartenders and other essential workers (driven by classism)
Sergio Torrejón Pérez | social scientist
I am primarily interested in the area between sociology and economics, with a specialization in the fields of labor (occupational change and working time), the impact of technological change on employment (automation and the future of work) and social stratification (inequality and social class analysis). I have been a visiting researcher at EUROFOUND (Dublin) and the European University Institute (Florence). Currently, I am employed as an economic and policy analyst at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The JRC serves as the European Commission's science and knowledge service, dedicated to conducting research and managing available knowledge to provide independent scientific advice and support for EU policies.
Before joining the European Commission, I worked as a researcher at Complutense University (Madrid), an advisor at the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs, and Social Wellbeing, an analyst conducting social and market research at 40dB., and a teacher at a high school in Rønde (Denmark).

I play guitar, write songs (go listen our record!) and love photography. I have been awarded by Photoespaña and have published together with some of the best spanish photographers alive the book 'Spain: Portrait of a country'.
